It’s Hard –The Word

This is from when this blog was brand new. I pray you enjoy it :)

Today while I was reading and typing up the verses to post, the realization hit me that, more times than not, these verses step all over my toes, as the old expression goes.

God always finds a way to point out, to me, right where I am struggling, and what I need to do to fix it, and help me on the journey to be the person that He wants me to be. I mean, I want to be good, be kind, be tender-hearted, be forgiving.

Key words there “want to be”  but just because I want to be, doesn’t mean that is what I end up being.

It’s hard when, you feel, you have been wronged, or that someone has hurt your feelings, taken advantage of you, whatever the case may be, to just be kind and forgive them.

To be nice, to not defend yourself, or lash out and do what you feel would equal the score, so to speak.

But if we pause for a moment and give inventory to ALL the things we have done in our lives to offend or hurt others, and yet God forgave us those trespasses.

Then why do we get so mad, angry, upset, etc, when someone comes along and hurts or angers us? What is the saying about shoe being on the other foot?

The more I read my Bible, the more I find that I don’t get so hurt or angry.

It would be a lie to say that I don’t get hurt or angry because I do, sometimes daily but more and more it’s not as severe, or volatile, or long-lasting.

I have done wrong things in my life, wronged others, myself, and to probably people that I didn’t even realize I was hurting, and yet God loves me and forgave me.

He only wants me to do the same for others. He wants us to show everyone in this world, all our brothers and sisters through Him, the same love and forgiveness that he has shown us.

Forgiving trespasses that we feel someone has committed against us, not only helps us, it helps the person that we feel hurt us. Forgiving keeps you happy, succeeding,  and growing. It allows you to focus on the good things that you have in your life and not the little things that, in the long run, really don’t matter.

We can’t control what people do to us, but one thing is for sure, we can control how we react to it, and the control we let it have on us. In doing so we share the love and forgiving that God has given to us.

  1. I love this Margaret. This was one of your first posts? The photos are beautiful too. This past week I got this exact lesson; a hurtful email from a person who really hurt people. I was SO mad…for about 15 minutes. Haha. Then wisdom kicked in and I knew their words had nothing to do with me. That’s a decade of recovery work and a lifetime of Jesus, couldn’t have had that insight on my own. Really good post. ❤️

    1. The post was one of the first, of my own writing and not copied from the Bible lol. I did add the pictures to it when I republished it. Such a blessing E, when something like that happens and the Lord kicks in :):) I appreciate your kind words about my post. Your encouragement is very much appreciated :):)

  2. I had a really bad day today in the anger department. I used to have a terrible temper from being bullied when I was younger and learning to fight back. When Jesus saved me…the majority of that old nasty anger was replaced with love. But I still have those bad days that try me real good. I really needed this post today. I will keep it and read it often. Thank you! and Blessings Margaret :)

  3. “But if we pause for a moment and give inventory to ALL the things we have done in our lives to offend or hurt others, and yet God forgave us those trespasses.” The Lord has taught me that I really don’t want to live under a “deserve it” system…I would be in serious trouble. :-)

    1. Thank you for saying that Lee. We’ll give the Good Lord all the credit because if this is excellent then it is His. It does make me happy that you could relate, and feel others can also. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us Lee, they are always welcome :):) God Bless you :):)

      1. You’re right, I should have credited the Lord Jesus Christ. I am at fault for this error, and I appreciate this correction, and I intend to try to be more careful in my wording in the future. Thank you.
All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

      2. Oh Lee it’s not an error, or fault :):) You were being kind and uplifting to me, one of your sisters, and God’s children :):) It was more on my end of making sure I didn’t take credit for something that I feel belongs to God :):) If that makes sense Brother. I am not some kind, wise in the Word, person. I am pretty rotten, with more than I could learn in this lifetime :) So, when someone sees something good, or something that speaks to them, and they think it came from me, then, for me, my opinion, God is just using the tools He had available :) Never be careful in your wording be bold. God knows your intent. If anyone corrects you, then ask the Lord to reveal it, He will. He will reveal to you if you had erred, or He will reveal to the person who corrected you, the intent He knew you had :):):) He always works it out :)

  4. I absolutely agree with what you said at the end there. It is how we react. I used to think that we should give as good as ‘they’ give us, but ever since I’ve learned to trust God, I realized that I was in the wrong. Thank you for sharing. God bless you.

      1. You’re utmost welcome, Margaret. Yes, isn’t it ironic? I’m not perfect either and I work everyday to strive for better. We’ll get there eventually. I have faith that we would ultimately get there. :)
