Such a great question Margaret. I might say neither though I’m probably inclined to getting on my soap box from time to time. 😳 He’s pretty quick to humble me though haha.

Love this question and love reading the responses! It is my goal to be righteous and right in the eyes of God, though I know I will not always be right :)

If I am in God’s will, I am both. But I would rather be righteous than right because there are times the Lord allows me to be learning from mistakes. Thank His Holy name that HE is ALWAYS right and righteous. ;) Love your challenge.

Right, and righteous. I would say they may be the same, in that you could be both at the same time. I can be quite “correct”(right), yet not be righteous in my behavior or the way I express my rightness. But one can certainly be right as in correct, yet expressing it might not be very righteous. For example, I interact fairly regularly with atheists. Obviously, my view of life and the world is “right.” They are quit wrong. But, not all of my expressions of being right are necessarily righteous. When I stop worrying about their soul, and worried about defeating them personally I am still “right,” but no longer behaving in a righteous way. Just my two cents!

I usually don’t answer my questions but today, I am. When I am in a situation that I am “right” about, and I know I am “right” I am not so “righteous”
This typically is never a religious situation because I’m not a prophet, or teacher, or preacher. I am not the be all, end all for religion. As long as someone isn’t questioning my belief in Jesus, I am pretty nice about the gospel. Love is my belief, and they will want that love, and God will do the rest. I’m not going to beat someone over the head with scripture. I might gently tap them with it LOL. It seems to work because I tend to have some pretty open minded conversations with some pretty close minded people when it comes to God. These open minded conversations typically lead to more conversations, more seeds planted.
BUT in other life areas, this is not the case. If I am right, I will get my point across until the other person submits, and corrects the issue. I am not kind, I am not patient. I am being “right” and not “righteous” I’m not as bad as I use to be but it still happens. I also never wanted to be “righteous” because Jesus railed pretty hard on the “righteous” folks. Plus, I am not morally right or justifiable; virtuous, free from guilt or sin. (I know I am forgiven, but I still sin)
I want to look at each situation, take pause, and ask, “am I going to be right, or righteous?”

This question is a lovely noodler and I’d interpret this rather differently, if you don’t mind. I’d say neither.
If I were to say I was right, I would exclude left. I would exclude wrong. Jesus sits at the right hand of God, which would put God to the left, or the Spirit, all within the trinity. A threefold of one. To pick one would exclude all in any regard.
Now, of course, you know I’m mixing Zen perspective with Christianity in that, but I feel it’s important for me to always acknowledge all and non duality. If nothing else, it keeps me contemplating 😊
In terms of righteous, it would also exclude wrongness. I am the sum total of my success and failure. All are good in the eyes of God and I am forgiven, yet I learn from my mistakes. I learn from when I fall and get up.
To me, I’m neither. I’m nothing. I’m a simple servant. A child wondering in the beauty of creation.

oh my, what a good one! I am the righteous of God in Christ Jesus! Couldn’t do it on my own, Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe!!!!

I’m righteous! Not only that, but I’m the righteousness of God, (Romans 3.22)!

We may not always be “right” all the time, but at least we have the righteousness of God through His Son Jesus. God Bless! – Sherline :)
