You can’t always be on the Mountaintop…

*** this is an earlier post from when the blog was new. I hope you enjoy it :)

Some days can be so easy. Everything goes my way. Everyone is nice. Everything seems to line up and just lay down at my feet.

Then there are the other days. Nothing goes right. Everyone seems rude, snappy or angry. Those days where I find my self saying, I should have stayed in bed.

Life is always full of these ups and downs, joys and pains. That’s the way life is. There would be no joy, if there wasn’t pain, no ups, if there are no downs.

You can’t always be on the mountaintop all the time.

When you climb a mountain, you have to start somewhere, right? It’s not at the top, with all the pretty views, the sense of accomplishment. Nope, you have to start at the bottom, in the valley and trek your way up. Struggling to get there. Pushing yourself not to give up.

Our journey with God, through this life, is the same way.

We start in that valley, no matter what that valley holds. We can either stay there, wallowing in the low country of our lives, or we listen to God. We grab His hand, and learn the lesson He is trying to teach us. We get out of His way, let Him get out in front of us, and pull us up that mountain.

We might make it the first time. We might fall back down. The key is always knowing that God will get us there. He’s not going to take a break, need a nap, or go to lunch.

He is always right there, holding out His hand, waiting for us.

Of course, mountaintops don’t go on forever, do they?

Once we get up there, we soak up that joyful air. We bask in happiness the view brings us, well, we’ve got to come back down, don’t we.

That’s ok. God is with us on the way down too. He is making sure we don’t fall too hard. He will be there to teach us the glories of His Grace. He will be there to comfort us. If we let Him.

When it’s time, in His time, He will grab our hands again, and lift us up again, and give us the strength to climb that next mountain.

So, the next time you are in that valley, be happy, and be thankful because without this valley, you could never get to the next mountaintop.

    1. Thank you, my dear E. I know the valleys aren’t always the most pleasant but they are mere stops on the journey to get us to the top :):) For that I am thankful :):) I pray your Sunday was good too. I have been a little busy today, but later tonight I’m looking forward to sitting down and reading your most recent post :):):)

  2. So true… There will always be mountain top experiences and days in the valley. Most importantly God is walking with us. And sometimes I am the one that is cranky and angry on some days… 😀😀 But soon that day passes and a sunshine filled day comes in.

And the advice you give here is very well written. You write in a way that not only communicates information, but it has heart that the reader enjoys.
