Blogger Recognition Award

Warren over at iWrite… my love story! nominated me for the Blogger Recognitions Award. Thank you Warren so much for thinking of me. I am humbled and honoured :) Warren certainly writes his love story about, and with God. Warren has a God given talent, and I am blessed that Warren started his blog. The rules are:

  1. Write a post to show your award.
  2. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  4. Give two piece of advice for new bloggers.
  5. Select other bloggers you want to give this award to.
  6. Nominate 2-3 bloggers who you believe deserve to be recognized.
  7. Comment on their blogs, to let the nominees know they have been nominated.

How my blog got started.

I was sending out Bible verses to my family and friends each day, as I would read my Bible. The list grew to the point that I needed and easier way to spread God’s Word. Yes that’s right an easier way. Kind of goes against the Word, doesn’t it? Anywho. I was reading my daily chapters, and start a blog kept coming to my mind. It was quite distracting, and I started making excuses right away.

LORD, you know I am not good with computers. Clear my mind so I can learn what You want me to learn from Your word today.

LORD, I don’t really even know what a blog is.

“Start a Blog”

LORD, I can barely text them out, how would I do a blog?

“Start a blog”

LORD, I don’t like social platforms. I’ll just keep texting them

“Start a blog”

Fine LORD, I’ll google it as soon as I finish reading my Bible. Will you clear my mind so I can finish reading Your Word? And You know, if You want me to “start a blog” then You know it will have to be easy, and take me no time at all because You know how frustrated I get with computers, and You know…

When I was done reading, I googled how to start a blog. The first result was something like “How to start a blog in 30 minutes or less” hahaha. Ok LORD, I am listening. I will start a blog. Within 30 minutes, I was sending out the daily verses. God is good :)

My advice to new bloggers would be…

Enjoy it. Don’t look at the stats. They don’t define you. If it is bringing you joy to write. If it brings you joy to read other blogs. If you are feeling compelled to comment, and are enjoying replying to comments on your own blog. Then you have succeeded. God has blessed you. The stat numbers are what tends to bring people down. Enjoy the people you are meeting. Enjoy the relationships you are forming. Those are blessings.

My second bit of advice, be yourself. You are valuable, and unique, There is no one else like you. If you are not sharing “you” with every one then you are depriving us of the beautiful creation God made you to be. So, in a sense you are stealing from us, so stop it :)

Nominate 2-3 bloggers who you believe deserve to be recognized.

This is impossible. There are too many that I feel deserve to be recognized.

    1. hahaha yes, even when they are ones that I don’t particularly like. I am just humbled that He would even talk to me at all. It is truly miraculous isn’t it. The Creator of everything, who sustains everything, has all these pieces to keep working, and people to take care of, and He still has all the time in the world to talk to me, and you, and everyone in between. WOW. Even more, that He wants to talk to us :)

  3. I loved reading about your story about how you got your blog started. Made me smile! :) It’s funny how the Lord simply repeats His message to us, rather than changing it.

    I for one am grateful and blessed as a result of your obedience to the Lord! 💛

    1. Yes, He knows me so well. Of course He knows me so well He did after all create me but He knows I will talk myself right out of anything that is out of my comfort zone. But when He wants it, there is no talking myself out of it. There will be no peace. He knows that repeating it over and over, inserting it into every thought, will be what I need to do what He wants. He also knows I like peace hehehe. He always wins :)

      You are so nice to say that. It has been a blessing for me as well :) I wasn’t doing it without some grumbles, and murmurs but He proved to me that if I do what He wants, He is good to bless me :)

      1. You’re right, Margaret. I know at least one blogger seems to depend on my “like.” I almost have to let him know that I’ll be away or I won’t check on the blog for a while. I’m sure many other bloggers have different reasons not to check the blogs every day. Another blogger is working on a couple projects, so I don’t expect her to check all of my posts. Even when she does, she may check one out of three. So in that sense, numbers don’t represent the supports. :-) :-)

  7. Congrats on the well-deserved award! Wonderful advice, too – “The stat numbers are what tends to bring people down” so it’s far better to focus on your own definition of success with your blog, to enjoy the community and writing and reading new things. Happy Blogging! :)

  8. Congratulations! It’s true, looking at the stats does bog a lot of people down. Once it comes August/ probably fall I’ll start a blog and enjoy myself, and not be bogged down by the stats.

  9. A wonderful read Margaret. God love is truly relentless, even when we don’t know our worth. His love shows us that our hearts are truly worthy to be used, by Him! He knows the end, before we can even see where our ability ends, and His love within us starts! Great advice, a well deserved recognition!

  11. Congratulations and Thanks to God for pushing you to start this blog, it has helped so many people. Love your advice on blogging too. It is better to look at it as being fun and meeting new people, stats are stats but connecting with others and adding new friends in your life is what God wants.

Thank you for such a wonderful, encouraging bunch of words :) I never see myself as helping any one, if there is any help, it is all God that is for sure :):) Yes, the stats are fine I am sure if you are running a business blog. Of course, what do I know hehehe. It’s just how I feel about it :) I am not the blog expert hahaha.
