But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. — 1 John 2:11
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. — 1 John 2:16
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. — 1 John 2:17
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. — 1 John 2:23
1 John 2:11 and 1 John 2:16 takes me back to Abel and Cain. These are great reminders for how we should and shouldn’t live.

I never made the Cain and Abel connection but Lee said asked me about the connection. I always took this verse to mean our brother to be all of God’s children. Like you are my Sister and if I hate you I am in darkness.

Yes, that too, but I love how scripture are open to so many connections and analogies!

I agree and so many lessons too. I can read a verse that applies to so many different situations that I am going through. It will show me what is happening, why it is happening, what I need to do.
