I know He does…

Do you think God answers your prayers?

I know He does.

People will say, “I keep praying and asking God for…(fill in the blank).”  I use to pray and  ask God for something, over and over and over, too.

Did I think God didn’t hear me the first time? Was I showing faith when I’d keep asking, and asking, and asking, which at some point turns into begging, does it not? O me of little faith. That wasn’t a typo, I said “me” :)

So, a few years back, I started asking God for something, once. The next time I prayed, I’d thank Him for what I asked Him for the last time I prayed. I kept thanking Him from that point on.

Now when I pray it’s full of “thank you God for (insert what I asked Him for)” even before I have received it. After He answers that prayer, I keep thanking Him for it.

I am still thanking Him for things He gave me years and years ago. I’m also still thanking Him for things I’ve asked for, but are not yet received.

My prayers seem to be answered a lot more quickly.

Is it because I’m not begging God by asking over and over? Or, is it because I’m showing Him faith, and giving Him thanks, in return, He is blessing me with what I’m asking of Him?

And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? –Matthew 14:31

Living Proof

Down my face the tears were flowing
Panic, anxiousness ever growing
Repeatedly telling myself I’ll be fine
Hoping one day tranquility would be mine
Finality came I could bear no more
God poured out His love and filled me to my core
If we come to Him with an open heart and truth
God will have mercy on us, of this I’m living proof

The Only One…

I was having a conversation with my mom about God, surprise, surprise :) But she said something that just clicked in me and I couldn’t wait to write about it.

She said, “I’m so glad I have God to talk to.” The reply that just fell out of my mouth and birthed this blog was, “He is the only One you really can talk to.”

That began a whole conversation between us and a profound realization on my part.

God is the only One you really can tell everything to, I mean I can tell my mom, sister, and husband everything, but I will be careful how I word things, so that I don’t worry them about certain situations. With God, I can tell Him just what I feel, and just how I feel it.

Why? Because He already knows. He is right there in my head, knowing every thought before I have it. Scary place, my head,  but not for Him :)

There are no secrets from Him. No holds barred, no sugar coating needed. The freedom to say everything I am thinking, feeling, want to do, emotion, anger, sadness, disappointment without fear, no fear that He will not understand or that He will never speak to me again. No fear.

We can tell Him things that we can’t tell our parents, spouses, siblings or friends, and we can tell Him in the way we really mean it without having to word it in a way that won’t cause our love ones to worry. (or think we’ve totally lost it)

We can always count on Him, 24 hours a day to listen. He is never too busy. We don’t have to give Him a minute to finish up what He’s doing, or just wait until tomorrow. We don’t have to make and appointment, or get in line. We never get His voice mail. He never has another call. We are never bothering or interrupting Him. We never have to worry that we will wake Him up if we need Him in the middle of the night. He is always home. He’s never too tired. You get the point.

We don’t have to worry if it’s a good time for Him. With Him and us, it’s always a good time.brooke-campbell-44085

Talk to the One that already knows what you are feeling. Ask the only One who is always willing and able to help you. Talk to the One, who loves you more than you can measure or comprehend.

Talk to the One who created you, and knows you better than you know yourself.
